The Robbins Hunter Museum is partnering with the Granville Public Library for the library’s March book club discussion.
March’s selection is The Improbable Victoria Woodhull by Eden Collinsworth, a biography exploring the complex and often controversial life of Licking County native Victoria Woodhull.
Born in nearby Homer, Woodhull became one of the most remarkable figures of the 19th century. In 1872, she became the first woman to run for President of the United States, challenging incumbent Ulysses S. Grant. She was also one of the first female stockbrokers on Wall Street and a prominent advocate for women’s rights.
As a museum known internationally for our Victoria Woodhull resources—including a dedicated exhibit and the Victoria Woodhull clock tower—we look forward to discussing the book and reflecting on how its portrayal of Woodhull compares with the history we interpret at the museum.
Join us for a thoughtful and engaging conversation.
